Baby stroller

- If you plan on taking your child on long outings to shopping malls and grocery stores you will want a stroller that is sturdy but easy to maneuver.

- If you will only be taking short trips to run errands, than a lightweight umbrella type baby stroller is probably what you will want.

- If you're a very active parent that would like to go jogging or take long walks with your baby, then a rugged jogging stroller would be best.

Most parents find it best to have two strollers. One heavy duty type that is full featured with carrying compartments and a second that is lightweight and can easily be folded up, like an umbrella stroller. Think about your daily activities and you will be able to decide which type is best for you. Buying the incorrect baby stroller is usually a big headache for any person. That is why it is crucial for moms and dads to be certain they have selected the proper one for their little babies.

Safety tips – first priority in choosing a baby stroller:

  • Use the safety belt or harness to restrain children and prevent tipping
  • Make sure the frame-locking mechanism is properly engaged to avoid collapse, and use the parking brake when stopped
  • Don't overload baby stroller. Don't use with a child heavier than the manufacturer's weight limit, and don't put more children than its design allows
  • Don't hang heavy bags on stroller handles, which might cause to tip
  • Never use a pillow, folded quilt, or blanket as a mattress in a stroller or baby carriage. They could cause the baby to suffocate
  • If you purchase a stroller that includes a recliner position check to make sure the it does not fall over backwards when the child reclines
  • If your baby stroller has a basket, use that for purses and bags rather than hanging these items over the handles. The basket should be placed over the rear tires
  • To prevent accidental folding of baby stroller always use the locking device. The brakes are used to limit the rotation of the tires
  • Make sure you do not accidentally pinch your child’s fingers when folding or unfolding your stroller. Be conscience of where those little hands are at all times
  • If you are using a jogging stroller make sure you use the safety strap that fits around your wrist. This can help prevent the stroller from getting away from you
  • When you are in a parking lot make sure that stroller is always next to you while unlocking the car. Put the child into their car seat before storing the stroller
  • Before you cross the street, position the stroller completely out of the street and make sure you are safely on the curb
  • Check your stroller to make sure it is completely opened and in the locked position before putting your child in it. A good habit to get into is pushing down on the seat with your hand to make sure it safe for your child
  • When stopping on a hill, always remember to set the brakes, even if you are just stopping for a moment

Choosing one for multiples

Finding the right stroller for your twins, triplets, or higher isn't an easy decision. There are so many thing to think about: front-to-back, side-by-side, accessories, how much to spend. Some models may be hard to find in stores. Often, expecting multiples ends up on rest and cannot go out to shop for strollers and test out different models. Even after the babies arrive, the matter might still not be resolved. Parents may find that the perfect strollers they researched and bought doesn't meet their needs like they thought it would. Or, their needs might have changed since their infants were born. That front to back baby stroller that worked great for infants isn't so great for squirming toddlers. Perhaps Mom wants to start taking the kids out on nature walks. Or, Dad wants to start taking the babies for a bike ride and needs a jogging stroller that converts to a bike trailer. Maybe baby stroller didn't just hold up as well as they'd hoped it would. Maybe another baby is on the way! Whatever the situation, there is a good chance that someone else has already "been there, done that" and has volunteered to share their experiences and advice.

Triple stroller

There are cases when a mother gives birth to not just one or two children at a time, but even three or four. Mother who gives birth to three babies at the same time need triple stroller. Parents of multiples really rely on a good triple stroller for transporting their babies. Parents of triplets need all the help they can get. Everything with triplets is three times as hard as it would normally be, and anything that can help make things easier can relieve a great deal of stress for the parents. A triple stroller is one way to accomplish this.

The first style is side-by-side, triple stroller, which while rather bulky, does make it easy to get kids in and out of it. There are also in-line varieties triple strollers, which seat the children one in front of the other. Obviously, a triple stroller will inevitably cost more money than a standard single version. However, these strollers are generally easy to find, being sold through nearly any baby store and from many dealers online from which to order.

Twin stroller

Twin stroller – Take Two Along. Having twins is very expensive. There are many initial costs that parents don't consider at first. When you have twins, the cost of most of the materials doubles. Besides having to provide the diapers and formula, parents of twins also must think about purchasing a durable double or twin stroller. Buying an inexpensive is maybe a good idea. While most people will only have one child young enough to ride in a stroller at any point in time, others may find that they have multiple young children. Whether they will have twins, or have one child right after the other, parents will need to determine whether or not they want to use two strollers; one for each child. Although some double strollers are designed for use with multiage children, this review gives consideration to twin strollers that are most effective for multiples.

twin strollerIt can take some thought to select the right twin stroller, and people should first understand that it's not the same thing as a tandem stroller. A tandem stroller lines up seats vertically, and usually has one seat in back that will recline, and is more suitable for a younger child or infant. Twin strollers have seats that are situated next to each other, and meant to be used for children of about the same age, though they can certainly accommodate kids of different ages. The first thing people should think about is whether a twin or tandem stroller is more appropriate. Tandems may be better suited when a large difference exists in child age, and when parents want a fully reclining back seat for infants. These strollers may be of less use if kids are about the same age, and the reclining feature usually becomes less important once children are over the age of one. Tandems may also be heavier to push and navigate because of their length. A twin stroller can have dual reclining seats, making them suitable for newborns to older children. For twins, these can have the natural advantage of keeping babies close together. They may not be as effective if the kids in the stroller are combative and wish to fight with each other. Having to break up fights or teasing can render any walk or trip unpleasant. With some models, extra weight on one side can make stroller much more difficult to turn. This effect is somewhat mollified if the stroller is built on the jogging stroller design, with a large swivel wheel in front instead of two wheels in the front section.

Clearly any baby strollers purchased or borrowed from a friend should conform to current safety standards, and used strollers should be checked to make certain there are no safety recalls pending against them. Lighter weight may be preferable and some follow the umbrella design and can be collapsed for easier storage. Other desirable features include sturdy wheels, good suspension, washable fabric, ample storage space or a storage basket, and a reliable frame and braking system. It also makes it easier for one person to stroll two babies at the same time, which can enhance exercise opportunities. Another feature that some twin strollers possess is an extra step, upon which an older child can ride if he/she gets tired during a walk. This may be a good thing to look for if a person will be walking babies and a toddler or preschooler over long distances. Price is certainly a consideration when evaluating twin models. Most will be more expensive than single strollers but on the other hand, buying twin stroller may eliminate the need to purchase two single baby strollers instead, and this can ultimately save money.
